Big Bang

A burst of flavor renews a historical building – and the classic diner concept.

A former workshop finds new life, with a renovation project that is extensive yet respectful of historical architectural elements:

under the vaulted ceiling and industrial rods, Big Bang serves up a family-friendly, American dining experience – with the quality of Italian style and fresh, local ingredients.

Shaping the concept directly with the owners, every element fell into place organically to form a powerful balance of retro and modern.

Original, Roy Lichtenstein-inspired pop graphics meet a more natural palette of warm pastels: corrugated salmon walls complement the oxidized copper finish that stands out on the soft curve of the counter.

Wood paneling adds a welcoming feel to the space, while the HVAC system shines in plain sight, and custom metal lampshades mix their subdued look with the 1950s’ vibe of LEDs mimicking neon lights.
